Toyota is well known for its unique leadership and management training methodology, which has been widely studied and emulated by other organizations around the world. Having been trained by former Toyota executives, we believe and follow the same style of leadership training. Here are six key aspects of our leadership training methodology:
1. Learning by doing: We believe that the best way to learn leadership skills is through hands-on experience. Therefore, we emphasizes practical, on-the-job training with minimal classroom instruction.
2. Gemba walks: Gemba means the "actual place" where work is done. A gemba walk is a key part of our leadership training. It involves leaders visiting the actual places where the work is being done to observe and learn from the workers. This approach allows leaders to understand the work being done, identify problems, and find opportunities for improvement.
3. Continuous improvement: Another essential part of our leadership training is the philosophy of continuous improvement or kaizen (small, incremental improvements). This approach emphasizes that every process can be improved and encourages employees at all levels to identify and address problems and inefficiencies.
4. Coaching and mentoring: We places a strong emphasis on coaching and mentoring as part of our leadership training. As coaches, we work closely with your leadership and those that aspire to be leaders, to help them develop their skills and identify areas for improvement.
5. Respect for people: A guiding principles is respect for people. This principle is central to our leadership training methodology, emphasizing that leaders should respect and empower their employees to drive innovation and continuous improvement.
6. Situational leadership: A leadership approach that involves adapting one's leadership style based on the situation and the needs of the individual or group being led. It recognizes that different situations require different types of leadership, and that leaders must be able to adjust their style to accommodate these differences.
Our leadership training methodology is focused on practical experience, continuous improvement, and respect for people. By emphasizing these values and principles, your organization can develop a strong culture of leadership and innovation, which will give your company a competitive advantage.
